Privacy Policy

Lingocast ("we") turns podcast episodes you choose into audio lessons in the language you're learning, for your personal learning. This policy explains what we collect and why. We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.

What we collect

Account: when you sign in with Google or Apple we receive an account identifier, your email address and your name. We never see your password.
Your episodes: the podcast links and titles you pick, your language and level, and the transcripts and audio we generate for you.
Tokens and purchases: your token balance and history, and purchase records from the App Store or Google Play. Payments are handled by Apple or Google — we never receive your card details.
On your device: the app stores your sign-in session and where you stopped listening, locally on your phone.
Technical data: our server may briefly keep standard logs (such as IP address and errors) to keep the service running and secure.

How we use it

Only to run Lingocast: sign you in, create and play your episodes, keep track of your tokens, prevent abuse, and fix problems.

Services that process data for us

To make an episode, the episode's audio and text are sent to AI providers that transcribe, translate and voice it: OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to (such as Google and OpenAI-model hosts). YouTube transcripts are fetched via Supadata. Sign-in is provided by Google and Apple; purchases by the App Store and Google Play. Our servers are hosted by Hetzner (Germany) and encrypted backups are stored with Backblaze (USA). These providers process data only to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, your account, episodes, generated audio and token history are deleted right away. Copies in our encrypted backups are removed as backups rotate, within about 5 weeks. We may keep purchase records where the law requires it.

Your choices and rights

Delete your account any time in the app: menu (⋯) → Delete account. Or see how to request deletion.
You can ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it by emailing us.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights, such as to access, correct, delete or port your data, or to object to processing. Contact us to exercise them.

Children

Lingocast is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU), and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
